Susan M. Hoskins became the first Unit Commander of the Medical Reserve Corps of Kansas City in 2004. She has been active with the Corps since its beginning and served on the initial Steering Committee which developed its operational guidelines.
Hoskins is the Health Services and Emergency Response Manager at the Platte County Health Department.
On January 25, 2007, President George W. Bush presented Hoskins with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for her leadership of the Medical Reserve Corps during a ceremony at the Charles Wheeler Downtown Airport. She accepted the award on behalf of all Medical Reserve Corps volunteers and thanked the President for calling citizens into service during his State of the Union address in January 2002.
